Font for our titles
We have chosen this font to use for our titles as we feel that it is very girly so it is suitable for our genre of film. Our inspiration of this style of font is from chick flicks such as legally blonde where it reflects a girls hand writing. At this stage we plan to create the writing to look as though it is being written down.

Font
We have decided to use this font because it reflects an american high school with the big bold letters. This type of font has been used in other typical teenage films and we want the audience to make this association between the font and the style of the film.
Prop Test Animatic for SCENE 1
This is our image anamatic to show the objects we will be using in the scene and to get an idea of how it will look. We left a two second time gap inbetween each shot but then decided it would look better if it matches the beat of the music (4 beats). We now know when we've finished filming that we need to cut each shot down so they will fit into the song. We did this because the music is so specific it's like it's routined, just like the girls plan themselves so they can end up with the perfect result.
Overall DRAWN Animatic
This was our final animatic for the whole opening sequence of The Social Chain. Our next step is to re do the animatic containing the real props by taking photographs of each individual shot with the actual character using them. For this we will only use the first scene to test time and mise en scene continuity.
Film Title
We have decided to call our film "The Social Chain", we wanted a solid title similar to "Mean Girls" but also with a meaning. We came up with the social chain by linking the food chain and social classes, this relates to the typical high school, where our film is based. In a high school you have different social classes and groups for example the higher ranked "popular" people, then "geeks" and "unsocialable" people this relates to the the food chain. In the wild you have the lion at the top of the food chain and the less inferieor animals follow below. The title also links in with our 25 word pitch that we published at the begining of our blog with the "jungle high school". The kind of characters we have in our opening for example the popular girls are suppose act almost like animals in the way that they are uncontrolable and will to whatever it take to survive in the jungle of school!

Filming Update!
We decided that we were going to show that there are three different characters by filming three different shots of them painting their nails in three individual colours and three shots of each girl placing on her shoes. We wanted to make this clear so the audience didn't get confused with the number of characters involved.

Music Video for Opening Scene
This is the music video for the track we are going to use for our opening scene. We think that this song represents youth and the kind of target audience we are aiming for, since this song has been used in various other media with the same target audience such as the series skins. We plan to use the instrumental part of the song at the beginning for the scene where the girls are getting ready. This part of the song fits well because it makes the audience feel lively and creates an exciting atmosphere. We also want to use the chorus of the song for when the girls make their entrance through the corridor, as it gives a dramatic effect and it makes a strong impact, stating that they are high maintenance and they are always centre of attention, as that part of the song is very attention grabbing.

ShotList :)
For our first scene, we want to do scene cutting, going from one girl to another. We wanted this scene to show the girls getting ready because they're the type of girls that care about their looks more than anything. We used the film example Legally Blonde to give us ideas for how to show this scene because we didn't want to show the characters full faces until later on. We decided to show them this way because it's like the girls break up their faces to create the perfect part and then join it all together to create the "perfect package". When it comes to Mise-en-scene, we will have to take into consideration that with ideas such as painting nails, we need to relate it to the typical girly girl by painting them a colour such as pink and using a surrounding mirror desk to show how they focus on their appearance.
- For the lips and mascara we need to make sure the extreme close ups don't show too much of the face because the idea of cross cutting between the girls is to show seperate parts of them and not show the full girl because the point is to make them up so they look created.
- For the shoes and jewellery, we used a close up (sticking to the rule of not showing full person). We wanted to show them applying their final detail as if to say every part of them needs to be decorated to look perfect to their audience and 'followers'.
For our second scene, we wanted to introduce the setting for the film (a school) after we had shown the main characters. For this scene we plan on using the same music throughout the whole opening so there will be no dialogue. We thought an establishing shot would be best for showing such a large setting because it just presents it all and makes a change from our close ups and extreme close ups in the first scene. After presenting the girls in sections it seems like the first thing you would see after this would be the girls being ready but we changed it to the school to create more suspense for the girls appearance.
- The point of view shot for the girls was a way to show how they are important because we see that they are so important that people fear them and love them enough to open doors for them which they are perfectly able to do themselves. We also thought it would be a good idea to show through their eyes because it leads up to finally seeing them.
- We then flipped so we are inside the school and we finally get to see the girls walk through with the music still playing (now becoming louder and perfectly in tune with their body language). We thought this long shot idea was the best way to show them because we see them walking through the corridor as if they own it because everyone stands out the way to let them come through (which relates to the song being played).
- By using a tracking shot, it gives the feeling of being one of their followers because the camera stays with them the whole time. By watching them knock into Ellie and knocking her books out of her hands, Ellie is introduced to us. As they knock into her, the camera is now being passed on.
- By using a close up of the paper under the shoe, we are then introduced another character; Kelly (unsocial, individual.. hates the bitches).
- The shot of Ellie picking up her paper then shows Kelly coming down to her level and helping, which shows the beginning of a friendship but because Kelly and Ellie are so different, you wonder if one may change?
- We then use a high angle shot and a low angle shot to exchange dirty looks between the bitches, Kelly and Ellie. By using this type of shot, we are showing status but by the look Kelly is able to give off, we see that things may start to change.

Christmas Work :)
The opening sequence to "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs" starts off by introducing the writers and directors of the film. To present these names, they use a child like type of writing because obviously this film is aimed for children. Also involved in the background is a rainbow which is fully bright and coloured which is very attention grabbing and would be easily attractive to children.
Following from this, there is a equally bright image of a man riding on an old style bike through a field of lollipop trees, this shows you what the film will be like; they title does do this but now the viewer has an image to link with it and get bring them more into the film.
Again after this they use a bright coloured background and put writing over it. In this part, the writing is different to the opening writing, it's block writing which is meant to be matching colours with the background and the same type of shape as the image behind it.
After this the images become like images from the film; showing you the main character and his father with another colourful background to show how happy they are. Following this would be an image with the mayor in it who is larger than the main character, this shows how things that aren't supposed to be big, become big (like in the movie).
Again the next two images use a rainbow of colour to keep the introduction bright and eye catching but it also uses images of large food with small people, this basically shows you how things will get out of hand but also keeps you interested because the idea of large food would interest any child.
The final two images use everyday things and add the over sized food into them to show how the film uses a lot of imagination to create it's images. Even though the opening doesn't introduce the main companies used in it, it still shows all it needs because it's a children's film and obviously they wouldn't really be interested in who made it.
